Dali in The Hague

Dali in The Hague brings together two worlds that at first glance seem far apart: the surrealist world of Salvador Dalí and Amy Winehouse, and the recognizable surroundings of The Hague.

Salvador Dalí was an artist who never simply accepted reality as reality. Dreams, symbols, and distortions took on a life of their own for him. Cristy Leonard uses this surrealist idea as inspiration and places Dalí in a new context.

By layering photography, painting, and various elements, an image emerges in which reality and fantasy constantly influence one another. The viewer recognizes the artist, but is simultaneously invited to ask themselves: what is real here and what is imagined?

That is precisely the power of this form of mixed media art. The artwork does not tell a single story that can be immediately explained. It leaves room for interpretation.

Dali in The Hague is therefore a contemporary tribute to one of the greatest innovators in art history, but at the same time also an independent artwork in which present and past meet. A special work for lovers of Salvador Dalí, surrealist art, mixed media art, and contemporary Dutch art.
